A superb-looking decanter bottle of XO rum from Barbados, aged in bourbon barrels before being shipped to France for a secondary maturation in Cognac casks from the Ferrand house. The result is a well balanced rum with a remarkably long finish, with a palate of chocolate, banana, coconut and mango. Now this is some very good stuff.
Hints of spicy oak on the nose, with guava, a little desiccated coconut and dried banana. Buttery.
Spiced, creamy palate entry, with sweet vanilla notes and caramel. Oaky spices.
Caramel. Toasted oak.

Astoundingly rich and creamy. Full of caramelized banana chips and flambéed cherries. Delicious and incredibly moreish. The bottle is quite beautiful too - a nice thing to have on the shelf.
I've got to say this is disappointing at this price. I finished my bottle of Zacapa 23 and wanted to try something else for a similar price. This does not come even close. It is smooth and easy drinking, but it is FAR too sweet! It also doesn't have much character or complexity, it is just quite inoffensive and sweet. That would be fine for maybe £30 but not £50!
Loved this rum. My go to rum is El Dorado 12 Yr old but this has sweet subtle flavours
I was looking for something I could just pour a glass of , sit back and sip slowly straight up without kidding myself it was enjoyable or "nice." This is it ! Tasting notes are spot on. It just gets better the further down the glass you go. Smooth and complex with no burn or harshness . Very grown up !
Best rum I have had. Fantastic to sip neat and fabulous with a drop of Rochester Ginger.
