This ship-shape sight is Pirate's Grog Rum, made from a blend of Caribbean rums which are aged in bourbon barrels for 3 to 5 years on the island of Roatán. Sweet with vanilla and brown sugars, this goes very well in rum-based cocktails, or can be enjoyed over ice. You don't have to speak like a pirate to enjoy Pirate's Grog Rum, but it helps set the scene.
Delivery was fast really fast my friend who’s pirate mad was over the moon with his bottle loved it will be buying another for Christmas thank you so much xx
Really lovely rum. Not too sweet, really smooth, nice mature flavour for a young rum.
Pirates grog, 5 year old - anything with pirate in the name is a good thing . . . . Except poo. When un-corked (bonus point for the cork) it smells like raisins and vodka? Over ice it tastes weirdly like a fine whiskey? And with coke is almost indistinguishable, tasting like a smooth vodka and coke? Pretty sure it was made by 5 year olds as opposed to being 5 years old and they put the wrong label on the bottle, as is not a rum in any way shape or form. Buy if you want a fine whiskey at a lower price. Mix with coke if you like vodka and coke. Not terrible though, 6/10.
I’m still pretty new to drinking rum, but this was really nice! A little sweet and smooth to drink, didn’t burn my tongue like Captain Morgan. Pleasantly warming too!
For a relatively young rum, this does have far more of a matured flavour than I expected. I have had 8yr and 12yr rums that are more similarly comparable to this than other 5yr rums. The light tones of butterscotch and vanilla did definitely come through and, as a sipping rum, would highly recommend it.
