Pacto Navio is a lip-smacking Cuban rum that has been finished in Sauternes casks! The name that refers to an 1815 treaty between France and Spain, and the Sauternes-cask finish is a reference to the trade ships that would leave Europe with holds packed with casks full of wine. On their way back from Cuba, the same casks would be filled with rum, allowing them to impart their intense sweetness on the spirit.
Spun sugar, caramelised banana, honey-roasted nuts, an intense splash of fresh citrus.
Disagree with the tasting note by The Chaps, however you can really taste the sauternes grape. Great smooth sipping rum and for the price great value.
Usually drink Spanish honey rum or Havana Club. This rum is up there for me and is on my top 3. Definitely one for quiet social evenings.
Only rum I’ve tried after Captain Morgan and Black Kraken, and this one is completely different story. Really enjoyed it! Be careful, because it is very easy drinking one! Looking forward to try other different sipping rums.
A solid option for a sipping rum. No edge that elevates it into the elite category but absolutely nothing wrong with it either - perfectly enjoyable and a good purchase.
Bought a bottle of this on the way back from Turkey, wasn't a huge amount of choice in the airport for rums (boooo!) but I was pleasantly surprised! I'm normally a spiced rum drinker but this has really impressed me, lots of flavour, pretty smooth although a very slight harshness/bite but that's me being really picky.. for the price it's a winner!
