Here we have a white rum from Scotland, distilled from molasses at Ninefold Distillery in Dumfries! Though it's unaged, this spirit is bursting with flavour, an ideal candidate for a Daiquiri. Adorning the bottle is a rather funky six-winged angel, which is the Carruthers family (the founders) crest. Ninefold is a reference to the ninth level of the celestial hierarchy, which is where the angel sits. Must dash, we're off to find out what our family crest is.
A prickle of spice, with ginger, vanilla, treacle and lively citrus, with a very subtle medicinal funky hint and smooth caramel.
Sweet and rich single rum. I normally prefer a dark rum, but this is excellent as both a cocktail spirit and on its own. Gave some to a friend with wide ranging rum experience who commented that “reminded him of a village in Trinidad” that he once visited. Highly recommended.
I can highly recommend this in a mojito. Adds a depth of flavour that you don't get with more mainstream white rums. I'm sure it'll work well in other cocktails too. Feels good to support someone with a strong focus on crafting a quality product.
Such a delicious and versatile drink. Great over ice on its own. But I love it with coke and twist of lime, or I’m a simple to make pina colada. Simply wonderful stuff. 10/10
Ninefold is my first real introduction to quality white rum, and what an introduction. We've been mixing a variety of cocktails with it and it's fab. Smooth but with a reassuring alcohol hit - fabulous for a Daiquiri.
Never thought I'd enjoy the Smoothness of a white Rum. Real lovely complex flavours & I can keep Gluten free too...if there was a single malts standard of rum, this is it.
