Here we have a white rum from Scotland, distilled from molasses at Ninefold Distillery in Dumfries! Though it's unaged, this spirit is bursting with flavour, an ideal candidate for a Daiquiri. Adorning the bottle is a rather funky six-winged angel, which is the Carruthers family (the founders) crest. Ninefold is a reference to the ninth level of the celestial hierarchy, which is where the angel sits. Must dash, we're off to find out what our family crest is.
A prickle of spice, with ginger, vanilla, treacle and lively citrus, with a very subtle medicinal funky hint and smooth caramel.

I tend to prefer a spiced rum, but tried this new rum out of curiosity. I was blown away by the smooth, vanilla and caramel flavours of this yummy rum. Highly recommend.
Really decent entry into the rum market, there's loads of buzz going on with the Scottish rum and it's easy to see why, especially with the sort of waves places like Sugar House Rum are making. This baby from Ninefold seems immediately more catered towards the cocktails and mixers crowd, it isn't rounded enough (yet) but in a classic daiquiri it is dinomite! Really impressive first foray into the rum world and look forward to seeing where it goes in the future. I see from comments there may be a cask aged version in the future which might be interesting to see.
This kind of makes you stop and appreciate what really good white rum is all about - flavour & depth. It hits traditional offerings out of the park and is great neat over ice or with a dash of good quality cola. The Distillery also has some age rum planned too.
Quite simply put, this is a delicious Rum. The mix of pot and column ensure that this Rum has both depth and an incredible smooth texture. This distillery has a bright and exciting future!
