Distilled in Barbados, this expression from Mount Gay was named for the 'double phenomenon' of a total solar eclipse and the passage of Halley's comet in 1910.
The nose is full and rounded with notes of fresh flowers and honey, a little vanilla and tropical fruit. The palate is fruity and well-rounded with notes of banana, vanilla, smoke, toasty oak, spice. The finish is long and spiced with toasty oak.
We are members of the international sailing community. Mount Gay is very popular. Yesterday I found a lovely bottle of Mt G Black Barrel at a store called ULTRA near the southern tip of Africa. Highly affordable. 43% ABV and 750 ml. Can't wait for a reason to drink it with friends ... We love Mt Gay and we specially appreciate their support for the sailing community. Good ole Eclipse, decent to keep a bottle in the house at all times. Nice as a sipper, lovely in a cup of tea.
I think mount gay eclipse is a very good rum but I have been searching for mount gay eclipse black not black barrel. I went on a cruise through the panama canal about 5 years ago and stopped over in panama and went the liquor store and found the eclipse black and as far as I am concerned it is the best mt gay rum. I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Is it been discontinued. Otherwise I'll have to stick with the eclipse.
Perfect rum with a splash of cola. Great for parties when I have guests mix their own and for when I want a solid drink while working in the garage. I always have some on hand.
