This rum from Malecon was distilled all the way back in 1998, at a distillery in Panama which remains unnamed. It spent 18 long years in bourbon barrels before it was bottled in 2016 at cask strength. The higher ABV results in a full explosion of flavour on the palate.
Sweet and rich molasses, dark chocolate, caramel, raisins, dates and a delightfully nutty note, with spices emerging on the finish.

Already it must be said, the packaging sends even if that does not really matter. We serve a small glass, we breathe and bam, what a magnificent impression. The vanilla is very present but also a smell of cooked, caramelized kind, you can't really tell if you smell wood. Character with these 50 degrees which are not too much, and a fairly long finish that releases a certain bitterness, a bit like dark chocolate or gingerbread. A wonder
