Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.
Nothing super special. In fact when mixed with coke, you can almost taste a bit of straight alcohol flavor from it. Perhaps it's because of the 47%. I'm not sure, but I wish it mixed better. The flavor is ok. I'm sure that after you drink one, number 2 tastes much better.
A great rum for a great price. I really enjoy rum, and this is great.
My previous review, I said that I did not enjoy Kraken...I managed subsequently to buy a bottle of Ron Zacapa Solera 23 - boy, now this is a great rum (cost 3 times more) but you will not be disappointed.
lovely as served with coke and ice
this rum is fantastic, and the price is just right, the kraken is definitely a rum for those who enjoy the finer things in life but are not willing to break the bank. the spice notes are nice, and it has a smooth sweet finish, best served ice cold with coke, or for the brave at heart, straight up.
