Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.
A Must for Rum Lovers!
I started drinking Kraken about 3 years ago, and cannot stand any other Rum now. Even though I have been a Rum and Coke drinker for years, I cannot stand any other spiced rums now. I have tried and tried to buy others, but miss my black Krack. I drink it with caffeine free Diet Pepsi.
Had a bottle for Christmas and gave it a few goes. I even tried mixing with Coke (shudder) but still tastes awful. For me it tastes more like aftershock (from my student days) or mouthwash. Awful
I've sucked down 6 whiskeys tonight, then tried to sip on some of this and Coke...it tastes like Jagermeister with diarrhea. The worst.
Love it, not as a drink on it's own, as I don't like straight spirits generally, but GREAT with ginger ale or Coke, oh and a slice of lime! Not fussed about what snobby reviewers think, I love the packaging and the way too cool bottle it comes in! I shall be buying this again and again! 10/10. Oh, and yes have tried other 'expensive' rums but for my common palette it does just fine! :o)
