Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.
Probably not the best thing I have ever had, but it definitely is a smooth mixer with some cola (whatever your preference) that doesn't have too much of a bite. Coming from a longtime fan of Captain Morgan I would strongly suggest giving it a try, much smoother finish.

Horrendous 'rum'....if it is indeed rum at all. Imagine if you will that someone bought a bog standard bottle of cheap rum, then whisked up some Parma Violets in a blender, added some chemical vanilla flavouring, put them altogether, and then as a finishing touch, tipped half a bottle of black Quink into the mixture. A triumph of marketing and bottle over substance.
This has become my "go to" spiced rum to either sip (swig) straight, or mix. I love it!
