Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.

My experience into the unknown began after a sociable evening with my son,I am a malt whisky drinker therefore it never crossed my mind to venture past my favorite tipple, until that most favorable question, sorry Dad I haven't any malt, but would you like to try some rum, that's it I'm hooked, the rum at the time was plantation 5yr old very good, but you don't stop there Kraken was the next recommended rum,no disappointment there, the rum in my opinion is well balanced, the flavors and sweetness compliment each other when added to ice and a minimal squeeze of lime, wonderful, would thoroughly recommend.
Smelled sweet like bailys little Kick of spice not much of a kick no water or ice required best straight out freezer smooth taste
I'm going to be straight forward, I drink to get drunk. I do not sip my hard liquor I sip my beer. So what I'm looking for in a rum is high alcohol content with little bite and Kraken does this better than any rum I've had. I'm not suggesting the flavor is anything less than good, I just don't drink rum by itself. But as a mixer Kraken has very little "burn" to it or raw alcohol taste compared to it's competitors. I find this to be smoother and have less bite than bottom and mid shelf liquors with 20 percent less alcohol by volume. You pay a bit more for it, but you aren't just paying for good packaging. Definitely going to purchase again.
I thought the rum was great, but the aluminum cap on the bottle was junk. It did not seal and I didn't be realize it until after I found the bottle on its side in my cooler. I lost almost 2/3 of the bottom because the cap didn't actually tighten down. I could literally pull the cap straight off the bottle once the seal was broken. Very disappointing, although like I said the rum was great just would have been better if I could have enjoyed all the product I actually paid for.
I think it's yummy
