Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.

Bought this randomly yesterday to surprise a good friend of mine. Taste great. No hangover. Eye would suggest eating something though and mixing with coke.
I am from a family of rum drinkers and even though my mother isn't completely sold on it, my father and I love it. This is by far the best rum I've ever tasted in my life...so far.
Bought it to give it a try. Honestly it has too much flavor for me, but I'm not much of a liqueur drinker myself. Not the greatest for lightweights due to the Proof and % being pretty high, but that's when you drink it straight. Mixing it with Root beer or cola really makes it what you imagined rum to be as a kid. I love it better than Lady Blight, and is indeed a very good rum! However, unless you are a Drink to Get Drunk type, I would use this as something to spike your cola or root beer with for that nice rum flavor and taste, as well as something to get ya buzzed. With its very smooth flavor and smooth burn, it's sorta meant to be mixed. Also, CHILL IT BEFORE TRYING IT! I just had this rum for my first time with my father in law after a family beach day. I received it as a gift. I am one who experiments with all spirits. I have not had much spiced rum, only as mixers and only of the usual captain morgan, bacardi, sailor jerry.. I mostly drink bourbon or whisky on ice. Well Kraken on ice is to say the least, enjoyable. Smells like a vanilla coke. Looks dark as caramel. Tastes strongly of vanilla with that classic spiced taste and a little burn or tingle on your tongue. The tastes improves as you get through your glass. It has a nice glass bottle. The aluminum cap mentioned in previous posts is noted. I guess a corked bottle would give the rum a more top shelf feel. But none the less, the dark rum in the bottle is what im drinking. Overall, a great spiced rum. I would recommend you give Kraken a shot. To call it the best, I will have to get back to you, after I finish this bottle and try or retry some of the others out there :-)
This is by far my favorite spiced rum. It is quite dark and has a strong vanilla undertone. I don't generally like rum straight up, but this is excellent straight or mixed. It has very little actual alcohol flavor or burn...just sweet and smooth. It tastes like a nice high end rum, but is quite reasonably priced. If you don't like rum or sweet alcohol, this may not be for you. For everyone else, I highly recommend.
