Kraken Spiced Rum is an excellent example of spiced rum, with utterly brilliant packaging! This was launched in the UK in early 2010, and it has an extraordinarily rich, spicy flavour. Named for the legendary sea monster, Kraken is a blend of Caribbean rums that should certainly suit any fans of rich, navy-style rum.
Spicy and rich with notes of vanilla and toffee apples. Hints of lime and cinnamon too.
Dark, rich palate. Thick with molasses and tar, and a barrage of cinnamon, golden syrup, nutmeg and charred oak.
Long, very spicy finish.

Kraken Black Spiced Rum tastes a bit like a hybrid between brandy and rum- leaning more to the rum side. Unlike some other rums it has a nice consistency that is neither too sticky nor too watery. It is sweet and spicy, good straight and as a mixer in coke or ginger ale.
Here in South Africa we are limited by our Rum brands. So when I saw Kraken I bought a bottle. After opening it I was quite surprised by the nice flavour. But after having one "shot" of Kraken I was very disappointed. It left a taste in my mouth which put me off this rum. I will stick to Cpt Morgan Dark rum. Even the Cpt Morgan spiced rum is a nicer rum than Kraken. I gave the bottle away after 1 drink. Rodney Benjamin
Kraken is now one of my favourite rums, rivalled only by Pink Pigeon and Rumbullion.
This is one of the best rums I have ever had the privilege of enjoying. This rum has the ability to be enjoyed with ginger ale, coke, or neat. Really whatever you decided to use it for it will do it. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 rating was because unfortunately it gives me heart burn. Weird I know and very sad but it is quite amazing
One of the best Rums I have ever had for the price. I am ex military and drank many rums in my day but this one I can honestly say is excellent on the pallat and smooth going down. Has a nice subtle warmth to it and sits in the belly quite comfortably. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good rum now and again.
