In this fruity expression of The Kraken, spiced rum from Trinidad and Tobago has been infused with the flavours of juicy black cherry and silky Madagascan vanilla. There's plenty of warming spice here, with layers of brown sugar, ripe cherries, a touch of frangipane, and sweet vanilla. Delicious sipped neat, or splashed into some cola.
I enjoy sipping rum neat, this stuff is not for me the vanilla is too much!
We really liked it. You can taste the cherry and vanilla. Definitely preferred this over the Foursquare spiced rum, at least if you are drinking it neat. Both are good with Coke.
I really wanted to love this but the overwhelming flavour I got felt like synthetic/artificial cherry flavour and it gets drowned out by the alcohol strength. It's nice enough in coke but wouldn't be my first choice.
Neat this rum is rather bland, because the cherry in smell and taste is tepid at best, and the Madagascan vanilla is AWOL, both on the palate and in the after taste. However, add full fat Coca-Cola and OH MY DAYS, what a complete and utter transformation! The coke not only makes the vanilla pop, but accentuates the cherry. Now drinking this rum is like drinking an alcoholic Cherry Coke with a side serving of vanilla and zero alcohol burn. What an amazing transformation!
This is a really decadent rum. The cherry flavour really is balanced well and the vanilla comes through as an aftertaste. Great Apéritif but not more than one!
