John Paul Jones Lowland rum has been aged in American oak casks, and interestingly it's also steeped in handpicked Scottish seaweed, which imparts a distinctive savoury, coastal element to the bold, sweet rum. Well-balanced, and ought to make for some fascinating cocktails.
Vanilla, honeycomb, sea salt with a touch of peppery heat lingering.

Cloudy, not like in the picture. Was told this is intentional but the reviews on the JPJ website suggest otherwise. Had to pay to return it which is unfair as it was a gift and I could not gift it looking like it did. Pity.
Tried this in an Old Fashioned... wow!
Taste is horrible. It's not a rum taste at all. Alcohol pushes through hard in taste and the seaweed does nothing for it. If you're a booze hound and love the taste of the alcohol then maybe its for you, but for me unfortunately it's a massive no. I still have 2 thirds left as even at a party people tried and left it in the glass.
A rum for lovers of fine whiskys. So much better than sweet rums of the past. Great on its own or in cocktails.
Fantastic sipping or great mixed, smooth and mellow, great rum to have.
