Wray and Nephew The best-selling high proof rum in the world. 90% of rum sales in Jamaica are of Wray and Nephew. Overproof is a very potent spirit indeed!
The nose is fruity. Notes of molasses and spice. The palate is fruity and a little spirity. There are notes of banana and Demerara as well as spice and a little oak. The finish is long and spiced.

Me and my friend opened a bottle of this since we received this as a gift from one of our other friends who went to Jamaica and the smell was absolutely foul. Even when we tried to plug our noses and drink it the taste reflected the smell. I would not recommend drinking it straight. We mixed it Coca-cola and it was okay, it over powered the soda though so it didn't really help. We tried it again with orange juice and it helped with the taste a lot better. It's a great drink to get you tipsy. You get a good hit after every drink.
But this stuff is just plain horrible. I tried coke, ginger ale, and even fresh squeezed orange juice. I can't drink it. Makes me nauseous. I normally drink rum straight up, by the shot, or with a side of water. I can burn through a bottle in less than a week. This stuff took over a year. Did I mention horrible? Gasoline tastes better. I'd give it 1 star if I could figure out how. I'd recommend a sample.
But seriously, $42.49? I can get it at any liquor store in Tucson, Arizona for half that.
one of a kind taste to say the least. wouldn't recommend drinking it straight
I was introduced to this rum by my Jamaican Fiancé, a vodka drinker myself I mistakenly thought it would be similar or perhaps like the white rum Bacardi.....how wrong I was! My first taste was mixed with Pepsi and LOTS of ice....Loved it!!! It's my drink of choice (with Pepsi) when I'm in Jamaica and hitting the bars. Indoors we drink it with ice cold milk, very smooth and just the right kick for chilling together watching a movie...try it.
