Wray and Nephew The best-selling high proof rum in the world. 90% of rum sales in Jamaica are of Wray and Nephew. Overproof is a very potent spirit indeed!
The nose is fruity. Notes of molasses and spice. The palate is fruity and a little spirity. There are notes of banana and Demerara as well as spice and a little oak. The finish is long and spiced.
A Most Marvelous Beverage
Tasty
I join the throng, enthusiastic about this "hot at your peril rum ", drink it and u realise why . Strength comparisons to Trinidadian Puncheon rum are always a heated conversation and the water hue they share is the starting line. But from the off the charm of the Wray and Nephew comes in leaps and bounds . It's like an old family friend who comes to visit and gets the party started . The test splash tells you a firm NO it can't be drunk straight and your tongue and throat are scream in protest . With water and ice you get in essence a very adult deep raw cane hit and successive glasses can quickly lead you down the garden path of merry . Coke or ginger beer gives it a more interesting spin , like the passion when lovers meet . a great mixer , in a fruit punch its legendary , cranberry or tropical fruit juice are hurry come up but worthy, but if you hand gets away its tribulation. There are big rums in the world but this the Blue Mountain of rums
The best rum out. Pity that it is so costly when you think that in the Cayman Island that you can buy two 1l bottles at £15 and get one free, making it £5.oo per litre.
This is my all time favorite rum.
