This 15 year old is created by 'repeatedly' blending the rums and aguardientes and maturing them in old oak barrels. Havana Club's Primer Maestro Ronero, Don José Navarro, describes this as "Cuban rum's great classic".
Honeyed and fruity. Peppery spice, floral.
Full, rich, dried, dark fruits. Dates and apples.
Something tropical with a little dark brown sugar and spice.
I've tried all the havana club rums bar the maximo (doubt i ever will) but the 15 is something else. the difference between the barrel proof can't be put into words. such an amazing flavour, yes it's expensive but you will not be disappointed.

This is a fabulous rum. Mellow. Smooth finish. Lingering aroma and flavor. Goes great with a quality cigar. However, HC 7 year is nearly as good and can be purchased in most Caribbean duty free shops for 15-20 dollars US per fifth. BTW, Angostura tastes like Captain Morgan. Skip it. Havana Club is unique.
