Gosling’s Black Seal combines rums from both pot and continuous column stills. The name comes from the black wax that was originally used to seal the bottles, but now there’s an actual black seal on the label. The iconic rum has been produced in Bermuda since 1806, which is a pretty long time. "If you're doing something right, don't fix it" and all that... You’d be a fool not to serve this in a Dark ‘n’ Stormy, as the cocktail is actually trademarked by the Gosling brothers.
Sweet, dark, cooked fruits. Fruitcake, spice, herbal.
Balanced with thick, sweet spices, stewed fruits.
Spiced, crisp, tingling.

A lovely bottle which when sat with friends putting the world to rights allows a smooth palate easily digested with lovely round notes, highly recommended
Mix a double shot of this nice rum with some ginger beer and serve over ice and you have a lovely glass of Dark and Stormy. The drink I was introduced to during my stay in Bermuda. A great drink to watch the sun go down.
I'd say the tasting notes are pretty much spot on for a start. There is definitely a predominant rich, stewed fruits taste with a nice winter spice to accompany it. It made me think of Christmas drinking this rum. I would have rated it higher but it wasn't the smoothest of rums, I needed to sip quite a lot of water after each sip of rum to take the edge off and to get the most out of the flavours. I'd say all in all it is a mixed bag, it is a nice rum but I think there are a lot of better rums out there.
