A handsomely packaged, beautiful little rum from El Dorado (one of our all-time favourites when it comes to Rum). This 5 year old Gold rum is fruity, rich and intensely buttery, and we have a feeling a premium Daiquiri might just be in order. This stuff is made mainly with spirit made at Uitvlugt and the Savale stills, as well as Enmore's wooden Coffey still.

El Dorado 5 is the worst rum in El Dorado's main range of aged rums. I could barely detect any Guyanese or Demarara rum when tasting it. El Dorado 5 could have been any other cheap low quality rum almost akin to Captain Morgan Spiced Gold. El Dorado 5 makes a mediocre rum and coke and that's all it is good for. I wouldn't buy the El Dorado 5 again and would stick with the 3 year old for Daiquiris and the 8 and 12 for cocktails and neat sipping.
Excellent rum, maybe my new favourite! Great taste, with a buttery, spicy finish. Fantastic sipping rum and great value for money.
I said too sweet originally, but tried a couple more tots with more coke and its not too bad. Have changed my mind and think its not too bad considering it isnt spiced.
Too sweet. I had searched for spiced rum and this rum came up on search. Reviews sounded good. But not to my liking. Its not spiced, should have checkef.
Do not think for a minute this a poor imitation of the El Dorado 12 etc. This is it's own unique Rum, beautifully smooth with plenty of body , tastes of Toffee, Carmel and more Toffee LOL.............. I love this stuff, value for money and then some. PS. This is completely different as well from the 8 year old, which is totally gorgeous too, but it is a much more robust, deep Demerara flavoured Rum. I,m going to have to buy the 12 again too for comparisons sake.
