Made from rums of between 21 and 25 years of age, matured in 45 gallon oak casks, within six degrees of the equator in Guyana. El Dorado 21 was awarded a Gold at the International Rum Festival 2003 in Canada and a Silver at the 2003 International Wine and Spirit Competition in London. Most remarkably, this was the highest scoring rum ever to be tasted by the Beverage Tasting Institute in Chicago.
Buttery, with chocolatey notes of Rolos behind it. Ripe banana and fruity Christmas cake. Hints of tobacco and sandalwood, leading into spent match smokiness.
Sultanas, dates, blackcurrant and macadamia nuts. A touch of rosewater, too. The mid-palate brings dark chocolate and nutmeg too.
It just keeps going! There's fried banana and handfuls of raisin notes right through to the end, with just a little hint of spicy cinnamon.
I poured my first glass the other day, took a sip and immediately put the bottle away Or I would have emptied the bottle in one sitting, it is incredible, deep, oily, long finish, tantalising your taste buds what a rum
Perfection!
I had an opportunity to try it. I never been a big fan of rum but during one of the wedding which we organised groom pass to us some shots of Eldorado 15years old and 21years old. To be onest - dilighted it is not apropirate word, magnificent not even that. I can not find a word to discribie it. Defenetly it is worth to buy it.
Pyrat XO Reserve is excellent. Mount Gay Extra Old is excellent. Zaya 12-year old is excellent. Ron Zacapa Sistema Solera 23 is very good. This stuff is definitely better.
Must be very special by the looks. I have'nt tasted this yet.
