A great 12 year old Demerara rum from El Dorado. This has won golds at the Caribbean Rum Taste Test in London 7 times in the first 10 years! There are nine stills at the distillery, and this is based around coffey still rum, and double wooden pot still rum.
Sweet, toffee, vanilla, spices, oak. Hints of smoke.
Cocoa, caramel, prunes, spices, vanilla.
Long, sublimely smooth, hints of smoke on the tail.
tried it straight and while it was drinkable unlike ur average rum i wouldnt call it smooth, tried with a few ice cubes and it improved, at the mo im taking it with a bit of diet coke, maybe im time my pallete will take to it
HI GOT MY 1ST BOTTLE FOR XMAS AND YES I OPENED IT , AND ITS GREAT VERY NICE SWEET BUT A LITTLE HARSH ITS NOT TOTALLY SMOOTH ON ITS OWN BUT YES A GREAT RUM AND ID BUY IT AGAIN
Complex but not difficult to drink. Really well balance but with its own unique character. Over ice is a treat.
this is one of the best sipping rums in my opinion. not as smooth as the 15 or 21yr old or something like the Zacappa solera - but if you're having it over ice or with a dash of sparkling spring water i think it is far superior. If you were to offer me any of these at the same price i would still take the 12yr old. not sure i want to sing its praises too much or it will start selling out all over the shop...
Red-tinged gold. Quite a pungent nose, sweet but slightly vegetal - like an agricole, or Wray & Nephew, but only a hint. Quite fruity, like berries dipped in honey. Still lots of bite, peppery finish. Great - a good crossover from mixing to sipping.
