A snazzy looking rum all the way from Venezuela, Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is a molasses based rum that is distilled in copper pot stills and matured in whiskey barrels. Top stuff for sipping neat or over ice, but also a very good bottle to have on hand when rum cocktails are on the menu. If you're feeling particularly experimental, try using Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva in place of a whiskey in a Manhattan. It works excellently. This fab rum was awarded a Gold Medal at the International Sugar Cane Spirits Tasting Competition in Ybor City.
Aromatic with hints of sultanas, chocolate, Christmas cake and gingerbread. Offers up bananas and custard with time in the glass.
Cocoa and vanilla, huge notes of oaky spice, brandy, plums and pepper.
Sweet coffee, Demerara sugar and oak.

I have just read the other reviews and am surprised at the negative ones. I went to the rum festival in Leeds and this stood out as one of the best, I do like a Zacapa though!
I love this rum - agreed it's not a 'classic' rum style but for siping over ice or neat it's delicious!
For the price a very good sipping rum. Preferred to more expensive bottles, for example the Ron Zacapa Centenario. I didn’t find it too sweet and I don’t have a sweet tooth
This is great stuff. Not a big rum drinker as I've never had anything like this. Can't compare it to much else. Its Christmas for sure. Rich, sweet, balanced. We tried the Mantuano version, which is good but don't bother, lump in for the Exclusiva.
Delicious sipping rum. Rich raisin and caramel flavours. A favourite.
