Classic traditional column still rum from Trinidad's long-lost Caroni distillery, which closed its doors for good back in 2002. It's uncommon to see this iconic, heavy rum undergo different cask finishes, but the gang at That Boutique-y Rum Company couldn't resist a bit of experimentation, treating this 24-year-old expression to an 18-month finish in Darkness oloroso sherry octaves.
Batch 14 is a release of 110 bottles.
Almond croissants and tart, jammy berries are joined by notes of aged Port and liquorice. Toasted marzipan and oily, burnt rubber nestle beneath.
Silky toffee and chewy dates, with woody anise and toasted almonds in tow. There's a herbaceous note of fennel and some good estery funk in tow.
A touch of bubblegum and smoky tar are supported by eucalyptus, mint tea, and crushed almonds.
