The folks at Burning Barn set out to make a spiced rum that was... Well, spicy. As luck would have it, they succeeded in their quest! This warming tipple features ginger, Bird's Eye chilli and allspice at its core, alongside a few hints of vanilla and coconut for good measure.
Red chilli heat, with lively ginger and crushed peppercorn in support. A pinch of brown sugar and diced almond gives it a suggestion of sweetness, but the spiciness is the star of the show.

This has become my go to rum of choice for 3 years now. Perfectly balanced and subtle kick of spice combined with smooth taste.
Absolute garbage, way over smoked tasted like TCP! Even when mixed with coke it was quite unpleasant. That's 35 quid I wont get back.
Delicious, smooth and rich with a warming glow. My number one drink of the moment I maybe like it a little too much ;-)
Having thoroughly enjoyed Burning Barn's Smoked Rum and as a fan of spiced rum in general, I decided to pick up a bottle of their Spiced variety. Unfortunately it did not delight in the same way as the Smoked Rum. I look for complexity and subtlety in a Spiced Rum, with layers of flavour that develop on your nose and tongue as you sip, whereas this is all about that hit of heat. The rum underneath is smooth and sweet enough, but any complexity is lost in the burn. Might make a good mixer, but it's disappointing as a straight spirit unless you really, really like your heat.
This has a unique flavour, very tasty with a fiery aftertaste. Great branding and a delight to drink, i'd choose the spiced over the smoked version.
