Bumbu Rum XO small batch rum is produced from molasses in a distillery in Panama that dates back more than 120 years! Aged in American white oak bourbon barrels, the rum was then treated to a short finish in Andalusian white oak sherry barrels. It comes in a pretty stylish matte black bottle with a great big silver X on the front. You know what they say, X marks the spot...
Rich notes of roasted oak, coffee and vanilla, with sweet toffee, orange peel and a touch of pepper spice.
This "upgrade" is a total letdown. I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers who have noted that the original is terrific, but this is not at all worth the extra cost. It's pretty good, don't get me wrong, but in my opinion, it's *identical* to Havana Club Extra Anejo. I think it's actually the same rum! Consequently, this rum should be priced at that Havana Club level, and not the $40 extra. And for sure, the XO should be the cheaper of the two Bumbu's!
I think it's lovely. Drinks more like a scotch than a rum (and lives between the two common price points of each). Nice sherry sweetness rounds out the flavor profile. I like the original bumbu, this has a few similar characteristics but is more straightforward and honest than its spiced flagship sister. Great with one ice cube as a nightcap or cordial.
One of my favourites after buying from Master of Malt, very smooth, goes great with coke.
Love the original Bumbu. The Xo was disappointing tastes like pesticides can’t say anything good about it
Delicious! Love the Original but this is something completely different. Trying to compare the two is impossible. The XO is designed more for whiskey drinkers.
