Here we have a higher strength bottling of the Original expression from Bumbu, now bottled at 40% ABV! The aged Caribbean rum has had native spices added to it, inspired by 16th and 17th century recipes used by West Indian sailors. With tropical fruit and spices at the fore, a splash of ginger beer would do well to bring out those warmer notes.
Banoffee pie, oak spice and caramel, with touches of chocolate and allspice.
Very thick, strong flavour of vanilla and banana, too sweet for my taste. Can see it work if you enjoy drinking mixers, however, to drink this near you must enjoy a complex layers this rum brings to the table. Not for me, its the complete oposit of something like a Diplomatico
Smells of vanilla and banana caramel. Tastes sweet with all the lovely caramel laying nice and thick on your tongue. Really lovely bottle for the money.
Beautiful sweet rum, I recommended putting it in the freezer a couple hours before drinking as you wont need any ice that way and it becomes thicker like a thin treacle. Its a show stopper and one that will impress many people. When buying Bumbu you are best off buying 2, it will not last.
Love this rum, im happy enough just snorting it! Smells gorgeous, and tastes great. Best without ice imo.
After having tried various spiced rums (and enjoying most of them) I decided to give this one a try based on local reviews which were very positive. I'm genuinely surprised, not in a good way, with how highly reviewed this rum is. The banana smell and taste is absolutely overbearing and it has quite clearly been sweetened. Perhaps for less experienced rum drinkers this is a very pleasant drink and I don't hate it either, but I'd hardly call it rum. This is a banana liquor.
