Three Tides is built around aged Dominican Republic and High Ester Jamaican funk, and features some rather intriguing ingredients alongside it, like scorched gorse, wild elderflower and oats! Not what you usually expect from a spiced rum, but the result is marvellous indeed, with fragrant smoke and dark chocolate bitterness offering tasty juxtaposition to the vibrant rum.
Burnt brown sugar, banana fritters, cacao, wisps of smoke developing later on - not quite peaty smoke, though slightly earthy at points.
Deeply disappointing sadly. The smoke is way too strong and is the first and last thing you can taste. The rum is smooth and if it weren't for the smoke it would be much nicer in my opinion. As a lover of all smoked foods and a keen bbq chef I was looking forward to this but its definitely not for me.
Absolutely lovely, it tastes like Whitby air, like a peat fire was lit under a mountain of brown sugar and then bottled. I have only had it over ice but i imagine this would be amazing with a ginger ale.
Really love how different this Rum is in cocktail or highball style drink. The core Rum has a bananas foster vibe with the smoke coming later on the palate. Really great for mixing.
In a world where spiced rums are all over the place, this liquid tries (and succeeds spectacularly) to tread a slightly different path. Interesting and works very well as a cocktail ingredient or with even the most potent mixers (a fiery ginger beer for example). Crucially, unlike the vast majority of spiced rums, this is MORE than good enough to sip either neat or with a couple of ice cubes. Highly recommended!!
A truly unique spiced rum the likes of which i have never had before. Works very well with a mixer such as ginger beer and lime or just as nice to drink straight.
