Pink gin is very much a thing – but pink rum?! That's exactly what we've got here from the Beach House folks in Mauritius (nothing to do with the American dream-pop band that also happens to be called Beach House, by the way). This expression is built upon a base of molasses rum, and is flavoured with an intriguing combination of botanicals, namely blackcurrant, hibiscus, grapefruit, and coconut. As you would expect from that description, it's packing plenty of vibrant, fruity, zesty notes, which means this will be a fab spirit for splashing in some refreshing, summery cocktails. We reckon it might even do well simply with soda water and a good wedge of fresh grapefruit.
Grapefruit arrives first, shortly followed by floral fragrances and touches of brown sugar. A tangy touch of blackcurrant lasts on the finish.
