A marvellous 8 year old rum from the Bacardi range, more than suitable for sipping neat, but also incredibly good for using in cocktails and mixed drinks.
The nose is fresh and perfumed with notes of oak and peels, a little syrup with a fennel note. The palate is sweet and rich with tropical fruits, peels and winter spice. The finish is gentle and luscious.
Picked up a bottle for under $20 USD, and ended up with a steal. It's not a big rum, nor is it particularly complex, and the nose is very, very light. Despite this, it is still absolutely worth picking up. A very Highland malt like dry wood is the dominant note on the palate, with tobacco, dry fruit, and vanilla singing backup. Pleasantly spicy in the mouth, with a gently warming, if brief, finish. The Bacardi 8 year would be acceptable, if a bit boring, at over twice the price. As it is, it offers exceptional value for money.
Wonderful sipping rum! On the nose - butterscotch/caramel Palate - caramel/fruit (chardonnay-like fruity taste)
Fantastic for the price, great flavors of sweet vanilla and honey with a pleasant smoky oak finish. Fantastic neat and even better on the rocks with coke. 10/10.
It is really smooth....
I can’t claim to be a true connoisseur, however this is absolutely the best tasting rum I’ve ever tried. I wish I could afford a case haha.
