Late Bottled Vintage Ports are really rather excellent quality and often offer great value for money – like this marvellous 2018 LBV from the outstanding Quinta do Noval. It's made with grapes grown in the Quinta do Noval vineyard in Pinhão, and trodden by foot before fermentation then maturation in Portuguese oak and Chestnut casks for five years. Gloriously, that longer maturation means it's ready to sip now, and it's tremendous indeed.
Blackberry, cherry, subtle dark chocolate bittersweet hints, with a flourish of cassia and pepper.
