Micil Poitín is named after the distiller's great-great-great grandfather, Micil Mac Chearra, who began making poitín for his friends and family in Connemara back in 1848. This Heritage Edition is distilled from an old family recipe using the traditional method of kiln-drying malt using turf fires. Hence, this one's a rather smoky affair along with the lovely creamy malt notes.
Aromatic smoke with sweet malt, a drizzle of maple syrup, creamy vanilla and smoky baking spices on the finish.

Two or three shots of Micil after dinner and after a day in the saddle was a wonderful chill each evening. I bought a bottle to bring back to the USA.
A smokey smell with hints of treacle sweetness. Slightly spicy on the palate and smooth aftertaste. Will be buying again.
