Big new flavours
Port Askaig 15 Year Old 2024
Distilled on Islay but shrouded in secrecy, Port Askaig 15 Year Old is an independent bottling with peat smoke, maritime charm and remarkable balance. Matured in refill American oak and sherry butts, it delivers the kind of coastal complexity fans of Islay whisky crave. There’s no need for fancy branding, the liquid speaks for itself.
Tasting notes
Nose: Bonfire smoke, briny sea breeze, stewed orchard fruit.
Palate: Smoked pears, clove, sea salt, lemon zest.
Finish: Long, drying, smoky with a touch of vanilla.
Black Tot Historic Solera Rum
A rich and complex blend that pays tribute to Royal Navy rum traditions, Black Tot Historic Solera combines heritage rum stocks from Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. Using a fractional solera method, this release offers consistency and complexity with every sip. A rum lover’s dream sporting old-school swagger.
Tasting notes
Nose: Baked banana, molasses, cocoa, dusty spice.
Palate: Demerara sugar, liquorice, gingerbread, tropical fruit.
Finish: Lingering oak, spice and treacle.
Rysa Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
A smoky, sherried malt from a mystery blend of distilleries, including some on Orkney. Rysa is bold and rich, crafted for peatheads and fans of full-bodied malt alike. There's a cult following already forming around this one, and with good reason – it’s unapologetically flavour-forward.
Tasting notes
Nose: Whisps of smoke, plump raisins, oak char, and leather.
Palate: Balanced peat, burnt sugar, vanilla, creamy malt, and a touch of spice.
Finish: Sultanas and dried berries, peppery warmth, delicate smoke.
Akashi-Tai Junmai Ginjo Sparkling
This sparkling sake from Akashi-Tai is a zesty, lower-ABV treat with elegant bubbles and bright citrus notes. Brewed using the Junmai Ginjo method, it pairs beautifully with sushi or sunshine – or both. A modern twist on a traditional brew, and a proper summer refresher.
Tasting notes
Nose: White flowers, yuzu, pear.
Palate: Zingy citrus, fresh rice, melon
Finish: Clean, slightly creamy, delicately fizzy.
