While the folk at Ableforth's enjoy using some very elaborate equipment and complicated calculations just to make their morning coffee, there are times where they like to keep it simple. As such, their spectacularly flavoursome Cherry Brandy is made using cherries and brandy - a change from most 'cherry brandies', which are made with neutral spirit and/or flavouring. Ableforth's use only the finest cherries and high-quality brandy from a rather famous region in France in their Cherry Brandy.
Ableforth's Cherry Brandy works in a number of cocktails, such as the Blood Sand and the Cherry Sour. That's why we've done the decent thing and included a couple of Ableforth's very own recipes (see videos below)...
Ableforth's Blood and Sand recipe:
25ml of Ableforth's Cherry Brandy
25ml of Scotch whisky
25ml of orange juice
25ml of sweet vermouth
Shake all ingredients over ice, strain into a chilled coupe glass, garnish with an orange zest and serve.
Ableforth's Cherry Sour recipe:
40ml of Ableforth's Cherry Brandy
25ml of lemon juice
5ml of sugar syrup
Dash of Angostura bitters
Shake all ingredients over ice, strain into ice-filled glass and top with soda. Garnish with a lemon and cherry slice and serve.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Complex bakewell notes with rich cherry, marzipan, crushed almonds and a floral edge complemented by nutmeg and cinnamon spiciness.
Palate Bonkers mouthfeel, so unctuous and thick with that allspice and damson alongside dark cherries and fresh tannic grip.
Finish More complex cherry goodness and spices. Christmassy.
Overall Delicious, unctuous, original and oh so right.
