The PERFECT FATHERS DAY Present
Johnnie Walker Blue Label was designed to showcase the rarest and most exceptional stocks held by the world's biggest Scotch whisky brand. Originally launched in 1987 as Johnnie Walker Oldest, the whisky quickly became known simply as Blue Label. The name stuck, and so did its reputation.
Nearly four decades later, Blue Label remains the pinnacle of the Johnnie Walker range. It's the bottle that appears at milestone birthdays, retirements, weddings, promotions, and celebrations. It's become the universal language of whisky gifting.
That makes it a particularly fitting Father's Day gift. Whether you're buying for the dad who introduced you to whisky, the father figure who always seems impossible to shop for, or simply somebody who deserves something special. They'll also appreciate that Blue Label's packaging inspired by historic Johnnie Walker bottles.
Behind every bottle sits generations of blending expertise. Johnnie Walker's whisky makers carefully select rare malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland, drawing on stocks shaped by different grains, yeast strains, still designs, cask types, and decades of maturation.
JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL
Blue Label is drawn from unparalleled Diageo reserves of maturing malt and grain whiskies from across four regions (Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and Islay), including ghost distilleries, that Johnnie Walker has privileged access to. Whatever the exact blend, a consistent flavour profile that’s a beautiful balance of rich, slightly smoky, and fruity elements.
Only one in 10,000 casks – including some from long-closed ‘ghost’ distilleries – make the Blue Label cut. And while there's no age statement, it's understood that some very old whisky makes its way into this esteemed blend.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Fragrant with good body. Notes of oak, crisp spice, dried fruit, pastries. Berry fruits, aniseed, hints of cedar, a touch of spice and citrus.
Palate:
Supple and balanced. Good toffee and hints of very wistful smoke. Chocolate, hints of grass and a good hit of malt.
Finish:
Floral, oaky, good length, urged on by a plume of very well-kept, highland style smoke. Dried fruit, spice, honey.
Keep Walking
There's no wrong way to enjoy Johnnie Walker Blue Label, but this is a whisky that rewards a little patience.
The Perfect Serve
Start neat in a whisky glass and give it a moment to open up. Take your time with the aromas before sipping slowly and letting the spirit unfold.
A few drops of water can help reveal additional notes of dried fruit, honey, citrus, and spice, while some drinkers prefer Blue Label served over a single large ice cube to gently soften the whisky as it evolves in the glass.
For food pairings, rich dark chocolate works brilliantly, as do mature cheeses, roasted nuts, and dried fruits. Or keep things simple. If you're celebrating Father's Day, it's the perfect excuse to skip the rush, pour a dram, and share a moment with the person you're raising a glass to.
