Whisky in perfect harmony
Hibiki Japanese Whisky
Now the official sponsor of The Sumo Tournament at the Royal Albert Hall!
Hibiki and Sumo: Japan in spirit
Hibiki means ‘resonance’ in Japanese. It’s a whisky, a bottle, and a brand that does just that. It resonates.
And it has done for decades. The brand was launched in 1989 to celebrate 60 years of parent company Suntory, the original Japanese whisky maker. Two true whisky legends – master blender Keizo Saji and chief blender Kochi Inatomi – created the first blend. It’s said Inatomi tasted over a million casks during his long career. The pair selected 30 malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita grain distillery.
Today, Hibiki is represented by its signature whisky Harmony, but the range extends to extraordinary aged expressions such as Hibiki 21 Year Old and Hibiki 30 Year Old.
The brand is now lending its good name to Japan’s national sport: Sumo. Hibiki Japanese Whisky is a proud sponsor of The Sumo Tournament at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s two true Japanese giants blended together, you could say, in perfect harmony.

The Grand Sumo tournament
The Grand Sumo Tournament is being hosted at The Royal Albert Hall in London, from October 15-19, 2025. Those attending will witness 40 elite wrestlers competing in a ring with ancient rituals and over 82 winning moves. You won’t see a more authentic display of true sumo prowess outside of Japan.
The real Japanese whisky
The Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association (JSLMA) is on a mission to define and defend true Japanese whisky. Brands that conform to its standards guarantee that every drop of whisky is distilled, matured, and bottled in Japan. The House of Suntory is a founding member of the JSLMA, naturally, all of its exports meet the standards: Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki, Toki, Chita, and Kakubin.
