Discover the heart of Hakushu

The distillery resides in the foothills of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Alps and is famed for its clear, mineral-rich underground water. The crisp, pure water, high altitude, and seasonal alpine climate all contribute to Hakushu's signature vibrant, verdant profile.

Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve

A no-age-statement Japanese single malt whisky that captures the smoky, herbaceous characteristics for which Hakushu is renowned. Both lightly-peated and heavily-peated malts were used for this complex and deeply enjoyable whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The herbs are very up front with this one. Peppermint, pine and pleasant grassy notes. Cucumber and melon round out the nose.

Palate: All the notes on the nose swim effortlessly through the palate, the mint developing sweeter notes as it goes on. Citrus zest also pops in to say hello.

Finish: A waft of smoke appears during the long finish.

Hakushu 12 Year Old

Japanese Whisky • 70cl • 43%

Hakushu distillery is located in the forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake and rather fittingly, its 12 Year Old Japanese single malt boasts a fresh and foresty flavour profile.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Nose: Toasted barley, seed and nut loaf, chopped almonds and a little bit of barrel char. Hints of milk chocolate and dried grass bring sweetness.

Palate

Much more fruit on the palate, but it's by no means a sweet whisky. Still rich, herbaceous and grassy, with a waft of smoke along the way.

Finish

Quite short, though enjoyable with orange peel and a touch of minerality.

Hakushu 18 Year Old

Japanese Whisky • 70cl • 43%

Mellow forest smoke and familiar green fruitiness combine gloriously in this richly malty, fragrant 18-year-old Japanese single malt whisky.

Nose

Orange, pear and a dry smokiness. Fruit salad.

Palate

Patisserie sweet, baked goods and baked goodness!

Finish

Long and fruity with Manuka honey and subtle smokiness.
