Lavish times past and present
James Allardice founded The Glendronach in 1826 and set about convincing Aberdeenshire's gentry that Highland whisky deserved their attention, largely by inviting them round and pouring some. By every account passed down, he was very good at it.
Two hundred years on, not much has changed about the whisky. Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, hand-selected, and that unmistakable richly-sherried character: dried fruit, treacle, oiled leather, a finish that doesn't hurry.
