An English gin from The Lakes Distillery, which is made with botanicals including juniper, black pepper and orange peel. The botanicals are steeped overnight before the spirit is blended with water from the Lake District National Park. It's bottled at 46% ABV, presented in this rather ornate glass bottle, engraved with the distillery's logo. A peppery, citrus burst that does very well garnished with a ribbon of orange peel.
Oily orange citrus underpins notes of piney juniper, a touch of lemon and a black pepper finish.
A beautiful gin, very well-balanced and smooth!
Loved this with a shot of fever tree and a slice of pink grapefruit.
Very Meh. Drank with Schweppes and lemon and this is very sweet and lacking zest. Taste tested against Plymouth Gin (slightly cheaper at 26ish a bottle) and our favorite and more expensive Salcombe all with Schweppes and lemon. The Lakes came out bottom and has a weird sweetener sweet taste. Definitely wouldn't recommend over anything else we've tried and probably sits near the bottom of what we've tasted. Happy to accept this is all down to tonic/sides but feel that a regular tonic and lemon shouldn't take away from the taste, otherwise why not make a recommendation on the bottle? . Bought at £31, not worth it, and currently at £27 I would strongly suggest to place it safe with Plymouth or Sip Smith, or if you can justify it Salcombe.
My new favourite gin!
