The first release from the Boatyard Distillery in Lough Erne, Northern Ireland, is Boatyard Double Gin! It's made with an organically produced wheat spirit, which goes through a double contact distillation process and infused with botanicals including sweet gale, grains of paradise, angelica, lemon, orris, liquorice root, coriander and juniper. The Boatyard Distillery is the work of Joe McGirr (who previously worked at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society), Darren Rook (founder of the London Distillery Company) and Greg Dillon (from GreatDrams.com) - what a team!
Light, elegant citrus and crisp juniper up front, backed up by balanced floral notes and sweet liquorice. Classically drying, with touches of vanilla developing later on.
This is now my gin of choice. It is full of flavour and refreshing.
We loved this gin. It was full of flavour and has earnt a regular place in our cupboard!!
I recently opened the bottle having read the label which outlined its origins ( from a very pretty and historical part of Fermanagh ) and with my friends sampled with an open mind ( and mouth ) and all AGREED delicious ! And distinctively different in such an agreeable way. the % allocation of each botanical intrigues and encourages another sip to further test my tastebuds !! I wonder when I might be tempted by a single triple distilled malt whisky from the same distillery ??
What a great gin, have had to get another bottle
I'm another to have received this fabulous gin through the Craft Gin Club. I can't honestly say I've not found a better gin than this.
