It's not a flavour combination that jumps to mind right away, but strawberries and balsamic vinegar is an absolutely astounding pairing that we don't think gets nearly enough love. That Boutique-y Gin Company clearly agree and have proffered their own way to put the flavour combo in front of everybody's eyes - by making Strawberry & Balsamico Gin! They have used a classically-styled base gin and given it the addition of fresh strawberries, strawberry and black pepper distillates and Aceto di Balsamico tradizionale di Modena DOP, which is aged between 12 and 25 years in casks made from chestnut, cherry, oak, mulberry, ash and juniper.
Freshly-picked strawberries – aromatic and earthy. Lots of herbal notes, especially basil and dill. A warm peppery juniper comes through and an oakiness, along with a subtle loose-leaf tobacco smoke.
The strawberry sweetness comes through along with darker fruits, the spicy pepper and of course, that delicious balsamic. The woody notes are more prominent on the palate. With time, the gin becomes a lot more savoury as the earthy juniper comes through.
Warm and woody.
A deliciously surprising gin, and a celebration of Aceto di Balsamico!

Tried this gin as part of this year's advent calendar - if you like Pimms you'll love this gin, it has a fresh summery taste and is very light and drinkable. Mixed with tonic you get a slight balsamic taste at the end, but nothing too bitter. I am considering buying a bigger bottle now!
Nice. With different. Dark when your pour it out. Def tastes of balsamic... Very bitter finish. Had mine with premium tonic and a handful of berries.
Lovely refreshing tastes, not too sweet with a slight Pimms taste. However leaves a very bitter aftertaste which spoiled it for me.
I've tried the previous few releases from Boutiquey and this one is the best yet. Huge richness and heady-sweet strawberry flavour, but with a savoury backbone provided by the Balsamico. The fact they've used DOP is ridiculous overkill IMO, but you can't argue with the result. Tried in just a G&T and it was epic.
