Something different here from Tanqueray. This gin is flavoured with Rangpur limes, also known as a mandarin orange. These highly acidic fruits, actually orange in colour, impart a fresh, zesty zing to this refreshing gin. Roll on summer!
Lots of zest on the nose, fresh citrus peel and just-cut botanicals.
Not as sharp and citric as the nose suggests, instead offering a pleasantly balanced gin flavour that's instantly recognisable as Tanqueray.
Smooth yet dry and lemony.
In a word, refreshing! The perfect gin for a G&T on the lawn.
sweet, maybe too sweet, too much zest, not for sipping.
I ain't sure why some folks have rated it 2/3 stars; probably didn't find the right mixer? IMHO, this is one of the best from the house of Tanqueray. Mix it with Cucumber Tonic and a couple of slices of Cucumber or if you know how to make floral looking cucumber do that - I'd put in a lots of ice, add a couple of slices of cucumber, pour 50ml Gin in it (slowly); then slowly pour Cucumber Tonic in it to fill the glass (I'd not use high-ball but more traditional one); let it settle down a bit and then stir n let it cool down a bit more - for best results, put your gin bottle in 5 C for about an hour before mixing it. You can't go wrong with this combination.
I concur with many others here. I am not a fan of Tanqueray in general, but this is wonderful with tonic water.
I am drinking this gin for the first time on a cold night in New England (U.S.) before the New Year, and I think it is delightful.
My husband bought this as a gift for me and I have to admit I was underwhelmed when I saw it was from the Tanqueray range. However, I have to say that his is one of the best gins I've tasted for some time (and I've tried many). It has a slight, almost undetectable bitterness, but is so delicious, and is now up there with my favourite gins.
