All the way from West Virginia comes the Smooth Ambler Greenbrier Gin, an excellent craft gin named after the county where Smooth Ambler are based - Greenbrier County.
Produced in small batches, the Greenbrier Gin features an equally small botanical selection of juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, cardamom, coriander, angelica root and black pepper. Saying that, there's nothing small about this gin's flavour - it's jam packed with Appalachian freshness!
This is a 70cl bottling.
Citrus and floral notes. Pine is in there, but it is in the background, letting the grapefruit and malt take centre stage.
A rich, wonderful texture with sweet notes of cinnamon, ginger and angelica.
Clean with a little black pepper.
Like a refreshing walk in nature on a sunny day. Great stuff.
It is what it says on the label. A smooth gin. The above reviews are rather harsh. I have over 150 gins and it certainly not horrible as compared to some of the others. It is pleasant drink with the right tonic. The tonic you choose makes a big difference. However I would rate it as an average gin - as I would do many of the others. I have very few I give five starts to and not many I give four stars. It is certainly not worth £50!
Despite the terrible reviews already posted, I really love this gin. It’s different from a London gin but actually the tasting notes are pretty spot on. If you like something a little unusual I’d say it’s definitely worth a try. Not sickly sweet or syrupy at all, but definitely a sweeter undertone than many.
Simply revolting! Don’t waste your money on this gin, it’s vile. I’ve never had a gin I can’t stomach before, but this is completely unpalatable. It is very sweet and fruity, almost sickly. It reminds me of skittles vodka.
Very disappointed. It smells and tastes like a bourbon not a gin ?
