The folks at Sipsmith looked back to the beginnings of gin when creating the recipe for Origin 1639. They took inspiration from a recipe referenced in a 1639 edition of The Distiller of London – the standards manual of the Worshipful Company of Distillers of London, featuring juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, and orris root in a 17th Century precursor to modern London dry gin. Made with a grain spirit base and with juniper remaining the lead botanical, Sipsmith's take on this historic recipe sees the addition of ripe strawberries and raspberries before the gin is rested in oak barrels, then chill-filtered. Try this in an 1800s favourite, the Gin Rickey mixed with sparkling water, ice, and a couple of wedges of fresh lime!
Rich, oily juniper and vibrant citrus are joined by delicate notes of summer berries, a soft hint of vanilla, and gentle spice at its core.
