A particularly intriguing expression from New Zealand's Scapegrape - a black gin! It gets its dark hue from its botanicals, which include aronia berry, butterfly pea, saffron, pineapple and sweet potato, among others. What's more, the spirit changes colour when mixed with tonic water, becoming a various shades of pink and blue.
Surprisingly fruity, with pineapple and lemon up front. A slow build of spicy juniper.
Peppery and oily, a soft hint of mint leaf developing. There's still some of the tropical fruit from the nose underneath the herbaceous elements.
Dill, redcurrant, juniper and cut grass.

“A delicious gin. It transforms from black to pink when tonic water is added too. A great gin to bring out at a party.”

Absolutely delicious! Great with plain tonic water and a slice of apple.
Is it ok to add Lemonade instead ?
