This gin was released by the award-winning Notting Hill bar, Portobello Star, home of the Ginsitute. This is a place where one can learn an awful lot about gin, so you would expect Portobello Road No. 171 to be rather good, and indeed it is. It's an old-style London Dry Gin, containing traditional botanicals and spices, that harks back to the gins of yesteryear.
Hot white pepper and heavy berries with plenty of juniper.
Well-integrated spice, again with a healthy dose of juniper. Soft lemon grass flavours with a hint of red berries.
Dry, fresh and cleansing citrus.
An excellent, no-nonsense gin that deserves to be a back bar staple.

Neither here nor there! Bought a bottle in Tesco and tried it with FeverTree tonic Spanish style. Didn't do a lot for me nor begged for a repeat.
A good quality premium gin and a reasonable price but I agree that it brings nothing specially distinctive to the party. Packaging is nice though.
Quite simply a delicious gin
There's nothing wrong with this gin. However, it's a bit neutral - especially for this price. Perhaps a good one for those just getting started. Lovely packaging.
This works brilliantly in g&ts and martinis and is very reasonably priced. It was created by Jake Burger, founder of some of the best bars in Leeds, and now resident gin expert at London's Ginstitute.
