This gin was released by the award-winning Notting Hill bar, Portobello Star, home of the Ginsitute. This is a place where one can learn an awful lot about gin, so you would expect Portobello Road No. 171 to be rather good, and indeed it is. It's an old-style London Dry Gin, containing traditional botanicals and spices, that harks back to the gins of yesteryear.
Hot white pepper and heavy berries with plenty of juniper.
Well-integrated spice, again with a healthy dose of juniper. Soft lemon grass flavours with a hint of red berries.
Dry, fresh and cleansing citrus.
An excellent, no-nonsense gin that deserves to be a back bar staple.

Very easy on the palate. Taste of botanicals. Not too strong or bitter a taste.
Another average Gin with a postcode to sell it. Absolutely ordinary gin with another trendy label. The taste of this gin is almost exactly the same as some supermarket own brand gins. I like gin and can find nothing out of the ordinary with the taste. Based on its taste alone its just your basic gin, a good mixer masks its actually average taste.
Had a double with soda on the rocks and a couple slices of lime at The Humble Grape in Bride's Passage. Very nice.
Great on its own or made a lovely Gin and Tonic. I used a twist of grapefruit as described on the website. Very good.
Outstanding gin
