Dr. Squid Gin comes to us from the Pocketful of Stones Distillery in Penzance, which was made using a recipe that features real, no-foolin' squid ink! We squid you not! A rather savoury expression, with a coastal feeling to it, along with a few touches of citrus and spice. If that wasn't cool enough, it also turns bright pink when you mix it with tonic! It comes in a copper flask, engraved with all sorts of flora and fauna. It also looks like the eponymous Dr. Squid is on the label...
Savoury kitchen herbs, balanced by fresh lemon zest and meadowsweet.
Citrus sits at the core, with woody juniper following. Subtly floral at points, and a touch of sea breeze sneaks in later on.
Spring blossom and pine.

Cracking Gin, if your ever in Cornwall do the Pocketful of Stones distillery tour well worth it for the money, and for all the people getting spillage when pouring have the spout at the top furthest away from the measure or glass and hey ho no spillage! ?
Love the Copper Bottle/tin, (main reason for purchase) I am not a Gin drinker my wife is and we both like it. Love the colour change too.
Great container, Must be seafood lover,,,,,,, Its a marmite
hummm, there's something about this that I just can't put my finger on. Definitely unique in flavour, I neither love it nor hate it. it lacks that really refreshing quality that I look for in a gin and for £50 its just a bit meah. Starting at the beginning the tin is stunning. Very heavy engraved copper with a beautiful nature scene and a definite purchasing draw (and substantial contributitory factor to that price tag) but...when I unscrewed the lid tiny little flecks of copper were floating on the surface of the gin and like another reviews say it does not pour at all well - I've spilled on every try so have ended up getting an oil spout thing to stick in it as this is too pricey to waste. Flavour wise its quite a heavy flavoured gin. Its more herbal and savoury than others I've tried but for me it has a slightly cloying effect that sticks around and makes it hard to mix with anything other than tonic. That said choose your tonic wisely. My go to is fever tree naturally light but in this it just didn't work making the final drink way too sweet, on my next one I made my own tonic with sparkling water and a tonic bitters and this was better but still didn't quite hit the mark, maybe this one is a martini gin. Yes it contains squid ink (As for the review that complained about this point, its very clearly labled, if you're vegan or don't like the concept don't buy it!) but if I'm honest I don't really know what this adds to the final product other than a USP, there is a salinity which might be from the ink but I'm sure the inital grey blue colour (and the colour change to mauvey pink) is nothing to do with the ink and I'm wondering if its whatever makes this gin change colour that is the flavour profile in this that I'm just not sold on. I do love the tin (and will be looking out for another on ebay) but would I buy another bottle of this for the actual gin....the jury's out on this one.
As in previous reviews, the beautiful can is somewhat difficult to pour, especially when full. The gin itself is really good if not great. I am glad I bought it, but as for a second bottle, maybe not.
