“I don't leave reviews usually, but I felt compelled with this one. It is stunning, from the bottle to the liquid. The copper flask is beautifully engrave, and whilst mine had a slight ding to the bottom, it added character. The gin itself is smooth, initially an inky black. The taste is unique to me, and utterly captivating. When tonic was added, there is a colour change, becoming a pinky grey (colour change isn't important to me, but my girlfriend loves it). There are proper citrus punches, with the herbaceous notes in the background no less important. If you like gin, buy it as soon as you can. Even if you don't, buy it anyway. ”

Dr. Squid Gin comes to us from the Pocketful of Stones Distillery in Penzance, which was made using a recipe that features real, no-foolin' squid ink! We squid you not! A rather savoury expression, with a coastal feeling to it, along with a few touches of citrus and spice. If that wasn't cool enough, it also turns bright pink when you mix it with tonic! It comes in a copper flask, engraved with all sorts of flora and fauna. It also looks like the eponymous Dr. Squid is on the label...

Nose

Savoury kitchen herbs, balanced by fresh lemon zest and meadowsweet.

Palate

Citrus sits at the core, with woody juniper following. Subtly floral at points, and a touch of sea breeze sneaks in later on.

Finish

Spring blossom and pine.
