As enthusiasts of all things science-y, we're big fans of Oxley Gin. It's distilled under vacuum - the distillate boils at -5 degrees Celsius, and re-condenses at -100 Celsius! That sounds like it shouldn't work, but the proof is in the pudding (or gin, in this case). This scientific wizardry captures some subtle, delicate flavours from the botanicals that might be lost when distilling in the usual way (y'know, with heat and all that).
Clean juniper aromas, with blossom, hints of soft pine needle, zest and dry herbs.
A herbal, zesty, almost effervescent palate with notes of juniper and grapefruit peel, as well as aniseed.
Star anise and soft juniper on the tail.
£4.85 - £41.33
Many gins overwhelm with juniper; this one blends in. Delicate, sublime juniper-forward taste, with hints of anise and citrus at the back of your mouth. Try this neat. I’m already afraid of running out of bottles!
The distillers focused squarely on gin-lovers with this product. It provides a smooth, dry mouthfeel, and delicate botanical aroma. This compliments the taste experience, while remaining focused on what gin-lovers appreciate most -- juniper! It is a standout gin and I will buy all that I can given it's limited availability.
SUCH a delicious and unique gin. I thought the cold-distilled thing was a bit of a gimmick, but actually it's true ... using fresh botanicals means the flavours are so much more vibrant and crisp than when the botanicals are dried. Fabulous!
I was recommended this gin by a bartended friend for making martinis! it's really citrusy, floral and bright - which I find super delicious. And strong! Will definitely be a stable of my drinks cabinet now
Awesome gin
